Survival Log Systems Hub
Understand the meters that decide whether a day was worth it.
Survival Log systems are the hidden script behind every successful stockpile and every failed night. This Systems Hub gathers the mechanical pages so you can stop guessing why stamina vanished, why morale cratered after a cold meal, or why the lights died while diesel still sat in a closet upstairs.
Survival meters
Hunger, Stamina, and Morale is the triad that turns chores into risk. Hunger pushes you toward Cooking and Food and Water. Stamina gates exploration described in How to Explore. Morale punishes dark rooms, ugly routines, and ignored neighbors.
Power as a system, not a prop
Power Grid explains diesel, manual, and solar thinking. Cross-link Basement Generator and Fuel and Power Gear before you assume one generator solves comfort forever. How to Manage Power translates theory into a daily checklist.
Production loops
Farming and Cooking are paced systems. They need tiles from Farming and Cooking Space and calendar patience that Planning Points must protect. Do not plant a farm you cannot water because you spent the day on vanity furniture.
Defense systems
Traps belong with How to Defend and Fortify Doors and Windows. Traps are not a substitute for boards; they are a multiplier when pathing is already sane.
The time loop
Time Loop and Planning Points is the meta system. It decides how many meaningful actions fit before the day resolves. Use Day Planner to rehearse spends. If you always end days with leftover points and empty shelves, your valuation of actions is wrong.
How to study systems in the demo
Pick one meter per demo session. One run only watches power. Another only watches morale after meals. The full release on 2026-08-12 will reward players who already understand these loops instead of treating them as UI noise.
Meter journaling
For three demo days, journal only systems. Write the first meter that broke and which action broke it. You will stop calling failures random. If stamina always dies on furniture hauls, your exploration theses are wrong. If morale dies after dark, your power policy is wrong. Systems pages are diagnostic manuals, not trivia.
Soft dependencies
Cooking depends on water and power. Farming depends on attention and space. Traps depend on pathing. Planning Points depend on morale enough to choose well. When a page feels confusing, diagram dependencies on paper, then reopen the child page that sits at the root. Most players try to fix the last symptom, not the first cause.
Practice arenas
Use the demo as a lab: one arena for power only, one for cooking timing, one for traps. Do not grade yourself on story immersion during lab days. Grade yourself on whether the meter behaved as this hub predicted. Immersion days come after literacy.
New systems pages
Study Loot Spotter for pre-disaster inventory gaps, Smart Actions for post-disaster three-suggestion chores, and Weather and Cold for overcast, snow, Cold debuff, and cold-wave caveats. Cross-link checklist depth via Checklist Dimensions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common survivor questions.
Which system should I learn first?
Planning Points and the hunger-stamina-morale triad, then power. Combat gadgets mean little if those meters collapse.
Do farming and cooking share one page?
No. Farming and Cooking are separate system pages, with a safehouse page for the physical room layout.
Are traps a combat skill or a build skill?
Both. Materials come from stockpiling; placement is a safehouse and defense skill.
Where is drone trade covered?
Exploration and guide pages mention drone trade as a mid-run top-up, not a replacement for systems mastery.
