Survival Log Smart Action Suggestions

Smart Action Suggestions are the post-disaster helper layer in Survival Log Dev Logs: the game proposes a small set of chores — typically three suggested actions — and your character can walk the safehouse and carry them out. The fantasy is less micromanagement paralysis and more guided survival labor after the outbreak. This page explains when to trust the suggestions, when to ignore them, and how they interact with Planning Points, power, weather, and defense. Midnight Workshop and Lilith Games are aiming the full release at August 12, 2026; the Steam demo is already the place to practice judgment.

What Smart Actions are trying to do

After disaster, the day is noisy: hunger, stamina, morale, boarding, traps, cooking, and optional rescues compete. Smart Actions compress that noise into a short list. They are not a second player. They are a triage hint. You still own Planning Points (mentioned as Conviction Points in one log; prefer Planning Points) and you still own failure.

The three-suggestion pattern

Expect a tight menu rather than an infinite quest log. Typical useful suggestions look like:

• Cook or eat to stop a stamina crash (Cooking).
• Reset or place traps near a threatened approach (Traps).
• Restore a critical appliance load or generator check (Basement Generator, How to Manage Power).

When the character walks and performs the action, watch pathing through Floor Layout. Cluttered clerk warehouses can slow chores — tidy lanes help both humans and suggestion execution (Warehouse Clerk).

When to ignore suggestions

Ignore or override when:

• A suggestion spends the last diesel while solar would cover a fridge hour.
• It sends you crafting comfort food while boards are broken.
• Cold wave pressure needs heaters, kettles, or coats first (Weather and Cold).
• A neighbor needs medicine now (How to Rescue Neighbor).
• Exploration risk is already high and the suggestion is a leisure tidy (Exploration Risk).

Smart Actions optimize local chores. They do not automatically understand your multi-day thesis. Keep a written thesis in Day Planner.

Pre-disaster versus post-disaster tooling

Loot Spotter-style gap tools dominate before the outbreak (Loot Spotter, Checklist Dimensions). Smart Actions dominate after. Do not expect Spotter to babysit every post-disaster minute, and do not expect Smart Actions to rebuild a missing Tier 0 stockpile you never bought. Role flavor

College Student players may enjoy suggestion chains that feel like schedule blocks. Workers may prefer manual repair picks. Clerks may override tidy suggestions that ignore category gaps. Compare in Roles Comparison. None of the roles make blind acceptance safe.

Demo practice

Run one day accepting all three suggestions, then one day accepting only suggestions that match a pre-written thesis. Compare meter outcomes. Log patch changes in Demo Update and broader systems notes in Dev Log Systems. Smart Actions should reduce friction, not replace the player’s spine.
